Designed specifically for professional actors actively working in paid stage performance, this intensive scene study class offers an opportunity to deepen technique, refine text analysis, and reconnect with the pleasure of the work.
Working with scenes from contemporary American realism, participants will explore given circumstances, objectives, obstacles, tactics, status, beats, arc, and the subtle choices that transform a performance.
With an emphasis on collaboration, curiosity, listening, and play, actors will have the opportunity to rehearse deeply, respond truthfully in the moment, and strengthen the skills that support compelling, fully realized scene work.
Who is this class for?
This class is for professional actors who are currently working in paid stage performance and are looking for a rigorous, collaborative environment in which to continue developing their craft.
Enrollment is limited to 12 participants.
About Laura Odeh Steele
Laura Odeh Steele is an actor ('Laura Odeh') and teacher in the Bay Area. After receiving her MFA from the Graduate Acting Program at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, she worked on Broadway, off-Broadway and regionally at theatres including Lincoln Center Theatre, Irish Repertory Theatre, The Public Theatre, Primary Stages, Guthrie Theater, Yale Repertory Theatre, Goodman Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Shakespeare Theatre, Arena Stage, Berkeley Rep and Marin Theatre Company. She has worked with directors including James Lapine, Moisés Kaufman, Robert Falls, David Ivers, Zelda Fichandler, Bill Rauch, Meredith McDonough, Don Roos and Charlie Kaufman. In addition to her acting career, Laura teaches in the Department of Theatre Arts & Dance at Sonoma State University.
