Kimberly Hughes has an interesting and varied background. After college she worked in film production, script reading, and as a production assistant on documentaries and films in San Francisco. Following that, she worked as a community liaison for Rep. Barbara Boxer in the SF and Marin district offices. Kimberly earned her MBA at the University of San Francisco, and later, started a business in residential renovations. She has remodeled houses and apartments in and outside of California. She is also certified in Permaculture, and currently grows grapes in Moon Mountain AVA in Sonoma, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Old Vine Zinfandel. Recently, her Zin and Cab Franc varietals earned Gold and Double-Gold, respectively, from the SF Chronicle Wine Competition and the Santa Rosa Press Democrat’s North Coast Wine Challenge.
Kimberly is a long-time supporter of education initiatives that offer both financial assistance and enrichment opportunities to students. While serving as a board member for the Sonoma International Film Festival, she produced annual video workshops for Sonoma Valley middle school students. The students created PSAs / short films that were screened in the Film Festival. Later she founded a scholarship program to help Sonoma Valley High School students (children of local farm workers) attend college. Another recent board affiliation was with Alonzo King LINES Ballet, a diverse, internationally renowned dance company based in San Francisco. Kimberly lives in Mill Valley with her husband, Steve Moazed.
