Casting & Audition Policies

2017/18 season casting is complete at this time. Please check our website in the new year for the 2018/19 season and audition announcements.

All professional actors who are interested in working at MTC are welcome to submit digital headshots and resumes at any time to the MTC casting department at casting@marintheatre.org. Save the trees! No hard copy resumes please.

Equity principle auditions are held annually. Actors Equity Association actors are given priority slots. Non-union actors may stand by for open slots. EPA audition dates will be listed following the season announcement and are held in February of each year.

Following the EPA, invited auditions are held on a per show basis by invitation only. MTC accepts recorded auditions from out of town actors also by invitation only.

If you have not been called back, there is no additional notification sent from the casting department.

The casting department does its best to keep all called-back actors notified of casting timelines. Any called-back actor not cast will receive notification of release as soon as possible.

Script Submissions

Marin Theatre Company accepts unsolicited scripts for season consideration when submitted by an agent, or when submitted to one of our two new play prizes, the David Calicchio Emerging American Playwright Prize, for professionally unproduced American playwrights, and the Sky Cooper New American Play Prize, for unproduced scripts by American playwrights at any career stage.

Information on these new play prizes can be found here

Volunteering

There are many ways to get involved in Marin Theatre Company, but one of the best ways to get involved is by volunteering! Internships are also available for those with various qualifications both during the school year as well as during the summer. You can also apply for a job here or, if you are a professional actor, you may wish to send your materials in to our casting director. If you are a playwright and are interested in submitting a play, please read our policy on script submissions below.

Opportunities with the Front of House team—Be an Usher!

Join MTC’s Front of House team for an evening to help tear tickets, hand out programs and other fliers, and direct patrons to their seats—and watch the show for free! We ask that ushers arrive one hour before showtime (typically 6:30pm) to meet with the House Manager, and stick around after the show to assist with clean up in the house.

If you are interested in being a volunteer usher, please contact Office Manager Pablo Hamlin by phone (415) 322-6033 or email pabloh@marintheatre.org.

Opportunities in the Administrative Offices—We can always use an extra set of hands!

MTC is always looking for either a few hours of support each week on a regular basis, or dedicated time for special projects like large mailings. If you are interested in volunteering in our administrative offices, please contact us by phone (415) 388-5200 x3373 or email info@marintheatre.org.

Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering on a regular basis or just for special projects in a certain time frame.

Opportunities with the Education team—Teen Camp Counselors Wanted!

Summer 2017 is coming to a close, but we are always looking for teen volunteers to help with our summer camps each summer. If you or someone you know is interested in being a volunteer camp counselor for the upcoming summer 2018, please contact Education Program Manager Ashleigh Worley by phone (415) 322-6026 or email ashleighw@marintheatre.org.
