Want to improve your ability to perform in a role? Want to understand the work of the actor better? Dive into character, relationship, and context in what happens in some of the most richly written scenes of the American theatre. We’ll break apart the techniques of contemporary acting and give new insight into what makes real and embodied characters come to life on the stage.

LX Skills Workshop

Do you have an interest in backstage theater? Are you studying tech theater in school and want to make professional connections? Do you want to learn skills that will help you make ends meet in the Bay Area?

Marin Theatre Company will be hosting lighting skills workshops on Wednesday, August 14*, starting at 10:00 AM (duration TBD). Master Electrician Danny Osburn will teach attendees essential skills such as: hanging lights, focusing lights, running cable, understanding light plots, and basic troubleshooting. Other topics will include: safe work practices, working with lifts and ladders, how to communicate with other theater technicians, and electrical theory and safety.

Workshop attendees will be paid for their time, $18/hr, for at least 4 hours. If you are interested, please send a message with your August availability to Danny at dosburn@marintheatre.org. Participants will have a direct connection into one of the Bay Area’s professional theaters, with opportunities to network for more work all across the region.

Cancellation and Withdrawal Policy

If there is insufficient enrollment, the class may be cancelled at the sole discretion of Marin Theatre Company. Tuition received for classes cancelled by MTC will be refunded in full.

No refunds will be given past the registration deadline for each class.
