Operating on a $2 million annual budget, MTC is a professional non-profit 501(c)(3) regional theatre with a full Equity contract serving an annual audience of over 38,000, with 4,000 subscribers and more than 3,000 students attending performances and Conservatory programs. But our work extends well beyond our stages and into our community with MTC’s Educational Outreach Program, providing free after-school programs and public school residencies in low-income communities.

Roughly half of our total annual budget is earned through ticket sales. Each year, MTC must raise the balance from individuals, corporate sponsorships, foundations and government agencies in order to maintain our programs. Our community of donors performs an integral role in fulfilling MTC’s mission and we are grateful to all for their support.

We welcome and thank you for your gift to Marin Theatre Company!

California Arts Council

art council

Cuts to the California Arts Council’s (CAC) budget has drastically reduced the agency’s ability to advocate for the arts and to fund arts organizations statewide. California is now ranked last among all the states for funding of the arts. As a former CAC grantee, MTC encourages your support in helping us demonstrate that the arts are important to Californians. A simple way to display your love for the arts and support the Arts Council is to purchase the Arts License Plate. More than half of the proceeds generated from the sales of the Arts plates and the entire renewal fee is allocated to the Arts Council for arts programming in California, including arts education and local arts programming.

The Arts license plate ("Coastline") was designed by prominent California artist Wayne Thiebaud and is the nation's first plate specifically designed to benefit the arts. With more than 125,000 plates sold since 1994, the Arts license plate is the most popular specialty plate in California.
