Bring a professional teaching artist from Marin Theatre Company into your school! We will create a customized drama program that fits your community – a one-time workshop, weekly classes afterschool, or as an addition to the classroom curriculum. Classes can introduce students to acting and the stage, or can use theatre to explore classroom subjects such as historical periods or language skills.
MTC’s Teaching Artists include professional actors appearing in our productions, and specialists in playwriting, improvisation, musical theatre, and all areas of drama. Combine a workshop with a field trip to a student matinee performance at MTC for the ultimate educational theatre experience!
Recent participating schools include San Rafael High, Bayside Elementary, MLK Academy, Marin Country Day School, and Neil Cummins Elementary.

In-school programs:
$100 per hour. Special discounts may be available thanks to MTC’s funders for schools that demonstrate financial need.
Afterschool programs:
$100 per hour (discounts available as above), or tuition charged to participating families (financial aid for qualifying families available from MTC’s Scholarship Fund).
MLK Academy
7th and 8th Grade Drama
MTC sends two teaching artists to MLK Academy to teach the 7th and 8th grade drama classes each week as a part of the school day. Funded by the Sato and Parker Foundations with no charge to the school.
Neil Cummins Elementary
Movement-Theatre Workshops
Teaching artists from MTC taught two one-hour classes focusing on dance and physical theatre for each 3rd grade class at Neil Cummins Elementary. Hourly rate.
Laurel Dell Elementary
Afterschool Drama Class
A teaching artist from MTC teaches a weekly afterschool drama class. Tuition paid by families, with financial aid from the MTC Scholarship fund.
Marin Country Day School
Afterschool Musical Theatre Class
A teaching artist from MTC teaches a weekly afterschool musical theatre class. MCDS afterschool program pays MTC at the hourly rate.
Afterschool classes are ongoing at Laurel Dell, Marin Country Day School, Bayside Elementary, Park School, Old Mill School, Edna Maguire Elementary, and Strawberry Point School.
