The Marin Young Playwrights Festival celebrates the work of teen playwrights in Marin County and encourages a focus on playwriting in local high schools. Each fall, teens who live in Marin are encouraged to submit original ten-minute scripts to the festival. The Teen Advisory Board, which is made up of local middle and high school students who serve as ambassadors between MTC and the teen community in Marin County, reviews the scripts in a blinded process and selects eight finalists. Local teens perform the finalist plays at the annual festival held at MTC.

MTC’s Artistic Staff serve as judges and select one winning script, which receives a staged reading with professional actors and a professional director at MTC in conjunction with the company’s New Works Series. Now in its fourth year, the Marin Young Playwrights Festival is sponsored by MTC and produced by the company’s Teen Advisory Board. This season, the Teen Board selected the eight finalists from over 50 submissions.
