Afterschool Classes

Marin Theatre Company offers afterschool classes from September through June at schools around Marin County and onsite at MTC. The instructors are professional teaching artists from MTC, the county’s premier professional theater, located in Mill Valley.

Spring Classes

The Wild Things Project: Inspired by the beloved book Where the Wild Things Are, this class challenges students to create the world of the Wild Things through movement and vocality. Every participant will dance, sing and act as a wild thing, as well as create their own costume and the physical world of the book. | Locations: Neil Cummins Elementary School, Dixie Elementary, Sun Valley Elementary and Coleman Elementary

Mystery Island: Through vocal and physical responses to clues, we will use our imaginations to solve mysteries that we encounter on our magical journey through a mystical island. But during our quest, watch out for ne’er-do-wells and other strange creatures who are all headed for treasures buried long ago. Perfect for beginning and advanced students alike, theater improvisation allows children to learn creative problem solving, team-building and physical awareness, as well as build self-esteem. | Locations: Ring Mountain Elementary School, Old Mill School, Park School

The Harry Potter Project: Inspired by the beloved Harry Potter series, this class challenges students to create the world of witchcraft and wizardry through movement and vocality. Every participant will create their own character as a witch or wizard, compile songs that inspire their magic incantations and physicalize the world of the wizards. | Locations: Novato Parks and Recreation

Broadway Bound: Are you ready to embrace the musical theater performer in you? Come find out on our journey to the stage! In this performance-based class, students will be able to develop complex characters, choreograph dances and sing songs as they showcase selections from Broadway favorites. | Locations: San Jose Middle School
